Celebrating the achievements of our exceptional nurses

Jul 10, 2023

Adventist Health Glendale achieved ANCC Magnet designation, becoming the first hospital in Glendale, one of only eight in Los Angeles County and 15 in California. This well-earned honor was led by Jinhee Nguyen, patient care executive, and Sarin Kurdian, Magnet Program manager, along with our excellent team of nurses. Nurse Cheri Watson, profiled here, exemplifies the dedication and compassion of our nursing staff, contributing to our high patient satisfaction ratings.

Our Journey to Magnet Excellence involved writing sources of evidence and months of preparations for a three-day site visit by ANCC appraisers. It was an exceptional hospital-wide effort, from a flash mob greeting for appraisers, extraordinary Nurse Leaders sharing their protocols and stories, to ultimately meeting the requirements of Magnet Models/standards.

The Magnet commission recognized nine Exemplar achievements, including strategic organizational change during the pandemic, nurse sensitive clinical indicators and new knowledge through innovative AI technology utilized in the emergency room.

Adventist Health Glendale’s achievement in nursing excellence serves as an example to the world of Magnet hospitals. Congratulations to Jinhee, Sarin and our family of incredible caregivers at Adventist Health Glendale.
