Beacon of hope: New breast center for our community
What a wonderful opening celebration on June 1 for The Sam and Grace Carvajal Comprehensive Breast Center which, thanks to our donors, was 100% philanthropically funded! Benefactors Sam and Grace Carvajal were on hand to cut the ceremonial ribbon alongside Dr. Dennis Holmes, internationally renowned breast surgeon, and Alice Issai, president of Adventist Health Glendale.
“Whether someone is diagnosed here or elsewhere, our policy is to see all newly diagnosed breast cancer patients within one to two days. That is a practice change that can help save lives. We believe this should be the new national standard,” shared Center Director Dr. Holmes.
The Center offers 15 specialized breast health services in a single location, including targeted intraoperative partial breast radiotherapy and state-of-the-art cryoablation. Additionally, the Tufenkian Family Breast Cancer Survivorship Program, established in memory of Savey Tufenkian, ensures survivors have access to coordinated care and support services.
Thanks to the tremendous generosity of our wonderful donors, the Center has already positively impacted many women.
